South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol said the denuclearization of the DPRK is a must for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, Northeast Asia and the world in his speech marking the liberation of the nation on August 15 (local time).

Yoon said that if North Korea stops its nuclear development and moves toward “substantive” denuclearization, South Korea will implement the aid program based on the North’s progress in denuclearization. They include providing food to the North, providing power generation and transmission facilities, modernizing ports and airports, modernizing medical facilities, and providing international investment and financial assistance.
