Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida was raided by the FBI on Wednesday. According to NPR and other media sources, the FBI searched for 10 hours and took 12 boxes of materials from the locked basement.

Christina Bobb, a lawyer for Mr. Trump, said in an interview on Monday that the search took 10 hours and was related to materials that Mr. Trump took with him when he left the White House in January 2021. The Washington Post said the FBI removed 12 boxes from a locked underground storage room. So far, the Justice Department has not responded to the search.

It’s not clear what the FBI found in the raid, but US media believe the operation may be a follow-up to the January raid. In January, the National Archives removed 15 boxes of classified White House material from Mar-a-Lago. The 100-page list included letters from former President Barack Obama to his successor, as well as Trump’s correspondence with other world leaders while in office.

The boxes contain documents subject to the Presidential Records Act, which requires all documents and records related to official business to be turned over to the National Archives for safekeeping.
