A Guinness World Records post explained that Canadian YouTube user “Huck Smith”, whose real name is James Hobson, broke his second world record by building the world’s brightest oversized flashlight.
The creator previously created the record of the first retractable prototype lightsaber and developed the “Nitebrite 300″, a flashlight suitable for giants, with 300 LEDs.
Hobson and his team obtained the Guinness World Record after measuring the brightness of the huge torch to be 501,031 lumens.
For reference, Imalent MS 18, the most powerful flashlight on the market, contains 18 LEDs and emits light at 100,000 lumens. We also previously reported on a large DIY water-cooled LED flashlight made by another YouTube user named Samm Sheperd with a rating of 72,000 lumens.
Football stadium floodlights are usually in the range of 100 and 250,000 lumens, which means that Nitebrite 300 can be placed above the stadium with its focused beam-although it may be too harsh for players.
All the uncontrolled brightness released by the Hacksmith team must be focused into a beam of light to make it part of the flashlight. To do this, Hobson and his team used a Fresnel reading magnifier to center the light and point it in a specific direction.
First, they built 50 boards, each of which was fixed with 6 LEDs. All circuit boards are powered by a battery.
Nitebrite 300 has three different modes, which can be switched with a huge button: low, high and turbo.
The finished flashlight, partly made of trash cans, is painted with black spray paint and has a classic appearance.
To measure the brightness of their super large flashlights, the Hacksmith team used a Crooks radiometer, a tool with a fan, inside a sealed glass bulb that moves more when exposed to strong light. quick.
The light emitted by the Nitebrite 300 was so strong that the Crookes radiometer exploded. This can be seen in the video below, as well as the flashlight strapped to the top of the car driving at night-which may lead to some UFO sightings.
